Green Party see election success in Solihull

8 May 2018

We are just recovering from the council election count that took place last Friday, and we are thrilled to announce that:

- We are now the biggest group of Green Party councillors in the country, with 11 (joint biggest with Brighton)

- We held all our seats and gained Castle Bromwich, with Cheryl Buxton-Sait defeating the Conservatives with 62%

- In Chelmsley Wood, we gained the best-ever Green Party result with 78% of the vote.

And in other news (as you may have seen all over the Birmingham Mail and even in the national press), over in Birmingham our friend Julien Pritchard has become Birmingham's first-ever Green Party councillor.

Elsewhere in the region we saw wins for our friends in Worcester and Cannock, and a near-gain in Leamington Spa (just 25 votes off).

This was a real team effort and thank-you so much to everyone who helped us. We will continue to hold the Conservatives to account in Solihull and to push for a fairer, kinder, greener, more peaceful Solihull.
