The Solihull Green Party has released the following statement about the proposed EDL march in Solihull on Sat 18th April:
"Solihull Green Party respects the right to protest, except when inciting hatred or violence against others."
"We are concerned that the proposed English Defence League (EDL) demonstration could cause division and weaken what have traditionally been good community relations in Solihull."
"There have in the past been cases of the EDL calling for attacks on the Muslim community. Violence does not resolve anything."
"We understand the demonstration to be linked to the opening of the new Solihull Community Hub."
"While there may be planning law issues associated with the centre, acts of vandalism of this nature only complicate the situation, making it harder to resolve community concerns."
"We hope the Solihull community will come together in unity to resolve any concerns about the new Hub together and continue positive community relations."
